Hannah Gilkes

Hannah is currently the COO of the Africa-focused impact investor, Amadeus Capital. Prior to this, she spent six years at Risk Advisory where she lead the firm’s Africa practice, managing the company’s investigations across the continent. Hannah has advised many clients in the oil and gas, telecommunications, consumer goods, infrastructure, and financial services sectors on the risks of doing business in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Hannah is an Ethiopian national. She has lived and worked in Addis Ababa and travelled extensively across sub-Saharan Africa, spending extended periods of time in Ethiopia, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

Project highlights:

Hannah has led more than 700 complex investigations in sub-Saharan Africa. In the course of this work she has carried out detailed investigative work in 42 of the continent’s countries.

• Conducted extensive human intelligence gathering into allegations relating to human rights abuses, supply chain allegations and grand corruption in Liberia.
• Led market intelligence work to support an investment into a towers business located in 11 countries across the continent.  
• Supported a UK charity in intelligence gathering to inform its advocacy work in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana.
